We are honored to have received a Jefferson Trust flash grants to support Book Arts at the Virginia Center for the Book. The Jefferson Trust makes grants to innovative ideas that enrich the University of Virginia and the student experience. Founded in 2006, the Trust has awarded more than $9.8 million to 242 trustee-selected projects across Grounds.
“It is clear that the University community is working hard to make a positive impact on students of all ages. Flash grants affect local toddlers, high school students, and, of course, UVA students at all levels. The trustees are pleased to be able to support so many high-quality proposals,” shares Jefferson Trust Grants Administrator, Amy Bonner.
With this grant, we will be able to launch the Book Arts Fellowship program, which will expand on the role of an intern in duration and scope, with hands-on learning experiences of printing and papermaking. Our new fellowships will provide a unique, year-long academic leadership experience for two undergraduate UVA students interested in arts administration, public relations, project management, and community engagement. As we open applications for these fellowships, we will post additional details.
