
Annual Members’ 2nd Project Meeting: Rivanna Reconnaissance
We’ve heard some really great ideas so far for our Annual 2023 Members Project, Rivanna Reconnaissance. We’ll hold our 2nd meeting at the Virginia Center for the Book at 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon on June 11th to discuss our concepts!

Paper Marbling: A Non-Instructed Session for “Experienced” Marblers
This four-hour standalone session follows our previous day’s instructed workshop. The workshop provides an opportunity for those with previous experience in Western Acrylic Paper Marbling to practice the craft.

Paper Marbling Instruction w/ Sandi Brayman
Led by Sandi Brayman, participants will leave this workshop with a dozen sheets of their own marbled paper to use for endpapers, note cards, bookmarks, or wrapping paper.

Letterpress Core Skills: 2023 Summer Session
This summer our multi-session, signature typesetting, and press usage class will feature the printing of broadsides, cards, and ephemera. Explore the art and craft of typesetting and letterpress printing in the Center’s Pressroom which features Vandercook cylinder letterpresses and the largest publicly accessible collection of movable type in the mid-Atlantic region.

2023 Annual Members Project Rivanna Reconnaissance
As a result of profound climate change, newly revealed archaeological and paleontological finds are surfacing along the banks of the Rivanna River. We are creating a scientific field journal cataloging these incidences in a fictional case study. Lost treasures unearthed, lost landscapes exposed, lost life forms revealed or revived, lost memories recovered – we are moved by these unexpected finds. Our fictional field journal will contain many examples of these newly uncovered discoveries.
