2nd Saturday Bookbinding Workshop

This year the Book Arts Program’s annual group project will be a flag book.  Join this class to learn to make flag books.  They are simple structures that produce dramatic books especially suited to displaying images.  (The structure is also sometimes called a flutter book.)

Schedule: Saturday, October 13, 2018, 12 Noon – 3:00 PM
Location: Virginia Center for the Book (map: Jefferson School City Center)
Fee for Workshop: $30 BookArts Members/$35 non-members
Instructors: Janet Eden and Addeane Caelleigh
Class Size: Limited to 10 students.
Skill level: Appropriate for all skill levels.

Materials and Tools:  Basic tools such as bone folders and cutters will be available, but please bring your own bookbinding tools if you have them, including a ruler at least 12-inches long.
Also, bring:
(1) a glue stick;
(2) two sheets of Canson Mi Tiente paper in contrasting colors of your choice. In Charlottesville the paper is available at Art Box art supply store in Ivy Road and at Moore’s craft store in the 5th Street Station shopping center;
(3) a variety of images that can be cut into strips or pieces, such as coffee-table style book, art picture books, wall calendars, or similar publications-the paper should be stiff.
