Finding Wisdom

Everyone in the Charlottesville-Albemarle community is invited to participate in this collaborative public art project with visiting printmaker Amos Paul Kennedy Jr., our inaugural Frank Riccio Artist in Residence.

With Amos’s help, we are collecting everyday sayings, mottos, aphorisms and proverbs from our community, and we want to hear from you!

What words do you live by?  Is there a short saying that really motivates or inspires you?

Does your math teacher have a favorite proverb? Is your aunt or grandfather always repeating the same catchy bit of advice?

Could you come up with a modern translation of a family saying that have been passed down to you?

We want to hear from YOU! In twenty words or less, share a saying (from your own imagination or from others) that inspires you.

Share Your Words of Wisdom »

We will pass them along to visiting printmaker Amos Paul Kennedy Jr., who will turn a selection of our submitted aphorisms into letterpress posters to be exhibited around Charlottesville and Albemarle in March 2019.

Then, join us for to-be-announced community printmaking sessions with Kennedy in March that will offer opportunities for you to make a print of your own!
