Great Reads

Every year, the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress features a book from each of the affiliate Centers for the Book, creating an annual list of Great Reads. Each book is selected by one of the Center for the Book affiliates and represents an aspect of their local literary culture, either addressing a topic of regional interest, taking place in the area, or written or illustrated by someone from or currently living there.

Route 1 Reads

Route 1 Reads is a roadtrip-inspired reading list that explores various genres through the network of Center for the Book affiliates on the East Coast. Connecting the 2,369 miles of U.S. Route 1 from Ft. Kent, Maine, to Key West, Florida, the initiative is a partnership between 16 affiliate Centers for the Book to promote books that illuminate important aspects of their states or commonwealths for readers traveling this meandering highway. The initiative was launched at the 2015 National Book Festival in Washington, D.C.
